EDWIN JERRY SHERMAN
Fort Fairfield – Edwin Jerry Sherman, 86, husband of Ellen M. (Toner) Sherman, passed away Monday afternoon, July 30, 2018 at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, following an extended illness. He was born November 17, 1931 in Blaine, the son of Wilfred L. Sr. and Vida M. (Tompkins) Sherman. Edwin attended school in Blaine and Fort Fairfield, and he was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War. He was a communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council Number 1753, both of Fort Fairfield. Edwin was employed for many years as a mechanic with H.G. Slipp in Presque Isle and the Caribou Ford Company. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, wood carver and animal lover. Edwin was predeceased by one brother, Wilfred L. Sherman Jr.; one sister, Joyce P. Theriault; and his grandson, Taylor M. Tompkins. Edwin is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Ellen M. (Toner) Sherman of Fort Fairfield; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry C. and Lisa Sherman of Brewer; one daughter and son-in-law, Natalie and Mike Cyr of Fort Fairfield; two grandchildren, Chelsea Kirk and her husband Caleb of Kenduskeag, Ally Sherman and her fiancé Noah Burditt of Winterport; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Timothy Everett of Augusta. Friends called Thursday August 2, 2018 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday August 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main Street, Fort Fairfield with Fr. Agustin Sebasthiyan celebrant. Interment followed at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments was held after the burial at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post Number 6176, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield.
